Your living room is the heart of your home – it’s where you relax after work, host friends and family, and spend most of your downtime. But when the temperature soars, even the most comfortable sofa becomes unbearable, and opening windows just lets in traffic noise, dust, and outdoor pollution.

Modern systems create the perfect environment for year-round comfort, whether you’re watching TV, entertaining guests, or simply relaxing with a good book.

From period properties in Colchester to modern developments in Chelmsford, or family homes in Basildon, we’ll design an air conditioning system that works perfectly for your living room and fits your budget.

Why Choose Air Conditioning for Your Living Room?

Your living room should be a place where you can truly unwind, but it’s hard to relax when you’re uncomfortably warm or the air feels stuffy. Domestic air conditioning does much more than just cool the air – it filters out dust, pollen, and other allergens that can make the space feel unpleasant.

You’ll have complete control over the temperature, creating the ideal environment for whatever you’re doing. Watching a film becomes more enjoyable when you’re not distracted by the heat, and your guests will appreciate the comfortable atmosphere when you have people over.

Many people worry about noise levels, especially in the main living area, but today’s living room air conditioning units are remarkably quiet. The gentle hum is often less noticeable than the sound of traffic through open windows.

We have had an excellent relationship with GLP Air Conditioning for over 12 years. They are, without doubt, one of, if not, the most professional, helpful and consistently reliable companies we are contracted to. We have received nothing but excellent service over 12 years. I have lost count of the many, many times they have gone above and beyond. I really cannot praise every single person at GLP highly enough and would not hesitate to recommend them. Today we had an urgent issue which was dealt with immediately. Gareth from GLP arrived and was very personable, attentive and professional throughout. He quickly sorted out our heating issue and we are very grateful to him and GLP.

Excellent service as always from GLP. Gareth provided an efficient diagnosis and solution to our heating issues across the building. Brilliantly helped by his apprentice, Harry. Also, a big shout out to Andy at GLP, who has consistently gone above and beyond to maintain our property over the past six years. He even came by on his day off to ensure our baby had heating over Christmas. Only downside is him being a Palace fan… I would highly recommend GLP for installing and maintaining heating and plumbing equipment.

Fantastic company. Gareth came over to check on my boiler as I had barely warm water. He dealt with the issue immediately and explained how to do it myself in the future and what to look out for to avoid it. Would use again for any other plumbing issues.

Top service. Went above and beyond to fix my boiler and tap leaving everything tidy afterwards. Would recommend to everyone. Obviously I hope to not need a plumber again but if I do they are my first call!!

Living Room Air Conditioning FAQs

What type of aircon is best for a living room?

For most living rooms, a wall-mounted split system is the best option. These air con units have the noisy compressor outside your home, so you only hear a gentle whisper of cool air inside. They’re energy-efficient, don’t take up valuable floor space, and can usually be installed in a single day.

Most modern air conditioning systems can heat and cool your living room. Heat pump systems are very efficient at heating, often more cost-effective than traditional electric heaters. The heating function is particularly useful during those chilly Essex evenings when you want to warm just the living room rather than the entire house.

The cost will depend on the size and shape of your living room and the type of system you choose. Wall-mounted split systems are typically the most popular choice for living rooms as they’re efficient and offer great value. Factors like room size, ceiling height, installation complexity, and any electrical work needed will affect the final price.
